LIONS launches global community hub for females in the creative communications industry

New community bulletin board is launched in partnership with Spotify and together with the 100+ members of the See It Be It alumni

LIONS has announced the launch of the See It Be It Resource Hub, a global community bulletin board providing a digital gathering place for resource sharing, event announcements and development recommendations.

The See It Be It talent programme was founded in 2014 by Cannes Lions with the mission to achieve equal gender representation of creative directors and leaders across the global industry. Since its launch, the programme has elevated a community of more than 100 female creative leaders across the world making a direct impact on gender representation.

Susie Walker, VP of Awards & Insight, LIONS, said, “The global alumni group that has emerged from the See It Be It initiative is an impressive, diverse and growing community of creative women who embody the programme in their everyday lives, in turn bringing the benefit of their journey to their local companies, communities, and countries. We want everyone in our wider community to be able to share in and utilise this valuable exchange of ideas and minds so that as a community we can continue to empower women to progress into leadership roles and ultimately move closer to the goal of gender equality.”

The hub launches with a spotlight on Lama Bawadi, Associate Creative Director at Leo Burnett Beirut. Bawadi took part in the 2018 See It Be It programme and describes it as a "career-changing experience" that taught her what it means to “set intentions, have gratitude and resilience”.

The community hub will provide details of upcoming events, programmes, learnings and listenings from across the globe. Suggestions for listings and posts are welcomed from everyone and from everywhere. Some of the initiatives already suggested by the See It Be It Alumni include: ADC Future Females, the first custom-made leadership programme for female high potentials in the creative sector; Papaya Young Directors, a competition aimed at aspiring directors in the film industry; ‘Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle’, a groundbreaking book explains why women experience burnout differently than men; and ‘The Time for ‘Supporting’ Women Is Over’, a regular Op-Ed by BETC associate creative director Lauren Haberfield published on LBB.

Applications for the 2022 See It Be It programme will open in January, when five additional places will become available to join the 2020/2021 cohort. The talent accelerator programme offers participants a VIP Cannes Lions experience, including a complimentary pass, accommodation and travel, as well as a curated programme of mentoring sessions, networking events, masterclasses, workshops and access to some of the industry’s most influential leaders.

The new See It Be It resource hub is available to access here and anyone wishing to submit a resource idea can do so here.
