2018 FCLA Dean Announced

CHINI Productions, Cannes Lions official Festival Representative and organizers of the Creativity Week West and Central Africa have announced Bunmi Oke as the Academy Dean for the flagship Academy programme Future Creative Leaders Academy. Bunmi Oke is a true giant of the Marketing Communications industry.


She is currently the CEO/Lead Consultant at Ladybird Limited and has put in over 28 years of meritorious service at various leading ad agencies like Grant advertising and LTC/JWT where she spent 10 years. As the Dean of the Future Creative Leaders Academy, she will be leading the faculty to inspire and mentor the future generation of industry leaders across the region.


Bunmi Oke is a woman who in a male dominated sector has been able to standout as a shining star. She is also one of the few women in the creative industry to have climbed the ladder of success and remained on top with her performances in the industry. She is a role model to various professionals in the industry. She is a Fellow of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (highest professional level with only 4 females to date). In 2017, she was awarded Advertising Personality of the decade by the Marketing Edge Brands and Advertising Excellence Awards. As a leading professional, she has occupied various positions both in the industry and in society at large. One of such is being the past president of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), a council member at APCON and a delegate at the 2014 National Conference. She was the pioneer Chief Operating Officer/Executive Director at 141 Worldwide and led the company for 12 years and also the pioneer Chief Public Affairs Officer of NOUN where she served for 3 years. She is currently an Executive Council Member at WIMBIZ.


Bunmi has worked on several global and local brands in building campaigns and businesses in the likes of Etisalat, ( EMTS), The Coca-Cola Company brands, First Bank Plc, BAT West Africa, Cadbury’s Tom Tom & Bournvita Accounts, DSTV – Multichoice Nigeria, Western Union, Unilever’s Close-Up, WAMCO’s Three Crowns milk etc to mention a few. She also has cogent understanding of the media landscape in Nigeria as a former client service/media director in LTC/JWT and as CPAO in NOUN.


The Future Creative Leaders Academy (FCLA) is a 3-day residential programme for students from West and Central Africa. It serves as an early immersion of the students into the competitive world of advertising practice. They also have the opportunity to work on briefs individually in the campuses and in teams after their arrival.


They will also be tested in their general understanding of advertising. At the end of the programme, each student is awarded a certificate of participation. In addition, the winning student receives a gold medal and an all-expense-paid trip including pocket money to attend the Roger Hatchuel Academy during Cannes Lions in France. The university academic staff are not left out because the teacher/supervising lecturer of the winner receives the Best Teacher Award and also a cash prize of N100,000.


The institution/department which produces the best students receives a trophy for the Best School of the Year Award thereby putting smiles on all faces. Last year Best School of the Year Award went to Pan Atlantic University. This competition is supported by APCON and participation is free for students from APCON accredited schools. Entries are still open for FCLA and other competitions during the Creativity.


The Creativity Week is CHINI Productions’ pre-Cannes Lions Festival programme which will take place at the MUSON Centre Lagos from 19 – 24 March 2018.
